01When did you start your fitness journey?

April 2018

 

02What motivated you to start?

I wasn’t eating right or taking care of my body. My workouts were getting stale, I was doing the same thing in the gym every day and was not seeing results. I could not force myself to do any cardio, and I wanted to join a place that pushed me and included a cardio aspect.

03What were your goals when you initially started?

My initial goals were to lose weight, and get to a target weight of 190 pounds (I was 225 when I started) and live a healthier lifestyle.

 

 

 

04 How are your goals different now?

Once I stuck to it every day I started seeing the results in the mirror. I would weigh myself and notice that I could not get down under 210 pounds and my weight was staying around 215 pounds. I then realized that it was because I was losing the fat off my body and replacing it with muscle mass. I now have the goal to work hard on my body every day, eat right, and not worry about the scale.  

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

I used to never do cardio, Empower has helped me tremendously with my cardiovascular endurance, my speed and athleticism, and overall helps me feel energized and in a better mood throughout the day.

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

My biggest struggle was not seeing instant results within the first 8 weeks while working hard every day. After a 3 month, six month period, and then 12 month period, I quickly realized that this is an everyday uphill battle working on your body and once you see the results in the mirror it makes it all worth it.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

Yes, they leave me feeling energized and in an overall better mood throughout my day.

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

Exactly what I struggled with above – that fitness journeys are a lifestyle and that you will not see instant results. It is a constant battle, hard work & struggle every day, but once results start to surface, it makes the everything worth it.

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

Madeline, Lama, Corey, Bianca, Tayo, and Khang. Everyday when I attend their classes they push me to the maximum and have a positive attitude and good vibes even when I don't want to be there to help me reach my goals.

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

It has exceeded all my expectations so much that I have referred 4 people.

01When did you start your fitness journey?

I started at Empower on June 13, 2018.

 

02What motivated you to start?

I had been working out at other gyms but, wanted a gym in the neighborhood (so the bright green building caught my eye) and also the variety of classes offered under one roof was such a plus for me. Working out keeps me mentally and physically in shape so, Empower was the right fit for me

When we relocated to Houston for work in October 2018, we were distracted with new jobs, a new home, and a new town full of new restaurants and things to do. At our previous home, we worked out at least 5 days a week since my wife, Jennifer was a Les Mills Instructor. While enjoying our new home, we lost our motivation and quickly gained weight and started feeling horrible. With both of us ready for change, we found Empower and got to work!

 

03What were your goals when you initially started?

My goals for HIIT was to build muscle/strength and to lose some lbs. And for my yoga goals, I wanted I wanted to work on my flexibility and help with some of my lower back pain.  

 

04 How are your goals different now?

I think we are always a work in progress, so I have achieved the short time goals I have set for myself but, I am always pushing myself to be better/stronger. 

 

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

My arms weren't all that strong before and somewhat of a problem area for me. But now, I am able to do regular push ups and my upper body has become so much stronger--thanks to the weight training and boxing! 

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

Speed/endurance were a struggle for me when I first started at Empower but, after recovering from a slight hamstring strain and spending that recovery time on the rowers I came back to the treads with so much strength and speed.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

Oh, heck yes! If I don't get that workout in for a few days I can feel it every where. My stress levels, moods, and my overall attitude are effected. HIIT releases all that for me and just makes me so happy. 🙂 

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

You might not be able to run the fastest or left the heaviest weights but, that's ok! Just try your hardest and concentrate on your journey. You are on the path of something great, so just keep it up--You can do it!

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

Tayo & Madeline have given me such support--they push me and also recognize my achievements. 

 

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

All of the trainers and staff have been so welcoming and supportive--from when I enter the door, I am greeted by name and with a smile; to the trainers having such great attitudes and facilitating a hard but, awesome workout. My strength, power, and endurance have all improved since becoming a member of the Empower community

01When did you start your fitness journey?

I started my fitness journey with Empower in the beginning of 2018

 

02What motivated you to start?

My motivation to start was wanting something new for motivation after getting bored with routine workouts.

03What were your goals when you initially started?

My goals when I began with empower where to lose weight & just be more consistent with fitness overall

 

04 How are your goals different now?

My goals haven’t changed much, I still want to lose weight however I know I need to be more disciplined (avoiding Chick-fil-A) lol

 

 

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

Results I’ve seen since beginning with empower are improved cardiovascular stamina, improved mobility & fitting some clothes I hadn’t worn in a long time.

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

My struggles are just remaining consistent with my diet due to my unpredictable work schedule.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

The workouts offered at empower are definitely beneficial especially in my daily life because I need cardiovascular endurance. Also, a lot of the strength workouts have improved my core strength which contributes to other areas of strength.

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

Advice I would offer to anyone joining empower is push yourself during workouts & be consistent

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

Several trainers past and present at empower have had an positive impact on be joining & remaining at the gym. Khang is a very knowledgeable trainer who has always been helpful. Also, Madeline is a very skilled trainer who has motivated me & helps me avoid serious injuries assisting with educating me with stretches for various muscle groups

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

My overall experience with empower has been great, the gym met and surpassed my expectations.

02What motivated you to start?

I recently had a baby when I joined.  I found it extremely difficult to lose my baby weight.

03What were your goals when you initially started?

My goals were to fit in my pre-maternity clothes and to tone up

 

 

04 How are your goals different now?

I enjoy working out and my current goal is to be the best version of myself both mentally and physically

 

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

I have seen muscle definition in places I've never had before.  Not only has Empower helped build my running endurance, it has also improved my pace. 

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

Before starting Empower, I ran about 2-3x a week to shed my maternity weight.  I was frustrated I wasn't seeing results as quickly as I did with my first child and so I decided to try out Empower in hopes it could speed up the progress.  I am now wearing my pre-maternity clothes and its beginning to get loose.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

Yes, it's a part of my day when I can focus on myself both mentally and physically.  It helps me feel energized and accomplished when I complete a class. 

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

The classes are always challenging but take it step by step, day by day, exercise by exercise.  Before you know it, you'll see a different person in the mirror. Although I know the workouts are challenging, I know they're highly effective. 

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

I feel like all the instructors are highly motivating and each bring their own positive energy to the class.  They never let you sell yourself short and are very encouraging.

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

My experience has been extremely positive and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to not only change their body but also challenge themselves.  The classes are always different.

01When did you start your fitness journey?

I started in February of 2018

 

02What motivated you to start?

I had just moved back home to Houston from Dallas and I was ready to make a change and start living life again.

03What were your goals when you initially started?

I wanted to lose weight but was intimidated by how much I needed to lose. So at first my goals were to just stick to a better diet and fitness routine. As I saw the weight falling off I started to set 4 week weight loss goals for myself and started pushing myself harder in my workouts.

04 How are your goals different now?

Yes, before I just wanted to lose weight. Now that the weight is gone I’m focused on building my endurance so I can run longer and pushing myself more with weights so I can be stronger.

 

 

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

Since starting Empower I have seen the best results from a workout that I’ve ever seen before. I’m stronger, leaner, and my running has changed completely. I started off walking most of the tred and now I’m running the full time and faster than I ever have before. My body continues to tone in every area and my self-esteem has done a 180!

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

My biggest struggle was finding a workout that worked for me. I have tried everything from Pilates/Yoga to boot camps and even Orange Theory but I would always get bored and quit. From the day I started at Empower that has never been an issue. I’ve never done the same workout twice so I’ve never gotten bored! Definitely do not have the same issues I had when I first started.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

Yes, my whole life has changed! I wake up with way more energy these days. I’m not nearly as lazy as I used to be. Even doing simple household chores is easier. I try and find new and fun activities with friends and family when on vacation, which I used to never do before.

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

Set workout goals for yourself. Whether its running a 5k or simply making it to two workout classes a week, it really helps motivate you. You feel a great sense of accomplishment when you meet those goals and it makes you want to set newer more challenging goals in the future.

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

Absolutely everyone! From the second I stepped foot in Empower I felt so welcome. Sometimes going to a new gym can be really intimidating. Everyone at the front desk is so friendly and they all make an effort to get to know you. The trainers are so helpful. They push me harder than I would push myself but would also adjust workouts for me when I needed it. My technique with weights and boxing has completely changed for the better. You can tell everyone really cares and wants to see you succeed.  

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

Empower changed my life. I now have a gym that I can call my own and I would never leave. I can’t thank Empower enough for helping me stick to my goals, but most importantly pushing me to new fitness levels. I wouldn’t change a thing about Empower, it really is the best workout I’ve ever done with the greatest people!

03What were your goals when you initially started?

Overall better health, losing 30-25 pounds, and getting back to our routine of 5-6 days a week in the gym.

 

04 How are your goals different now?

WellI am down about 25 pounds and definitely feel better. We average 5 classes a week and feel as we have found "our" gym at Empower!  I think the variety in each class makes it easy to get motivated and the trainers are really good!

 

05What results have you seen since being part of the Empower Community?

I feel much stronger and my cardio is as good as it has ever been. I am also learning to enjoy the Cycle and Yoga classes. Another great reason we are at Empower!

06What did you struggle with the most when you started ?

My biggest struggle was getting up at 4 AM to get to the gym and staying on the really strict diet we are following.  Now we are so excited to get to the gym that getting up is easier, and our food program has advanced and become easier to manage. We have definitely made some life changes.

07How does working out at Empower Fitness Lab effect your daily life?

YES! I feel so motivated to start my day after a class. I feel much more alert, and being in better shape has always allowed me to get the most of my busy days.

08What advice would you give to new and current members?

You have joined the best gym in town. Use the facilities and try everything. The trainer are some of the most motivating people I have ever been around, and your fitness level does not matter as long as you give 100% and "leave it all on the floor!

 

09Has any one at Empower made an impact towards your goals? If so, who?

Khang for sure, along with Brandon and Corey who always make sure your form is correct (I really like that!). Also, Tayo, Bianca, and Alicia. 

10What has been your overall experience been like with Empower?

I feel like every class is incredible, HIIT, Cycle and Yoga. The trainers are amazing, and the personal service makes it feel like you have the trainer one on one, even though you are in a group class setting. It is honestly the best choice I have made since moving to Houston.
